Events for the House of Mexico

House of Mexico's Monthly Meeting is the second Monday of each month, 7:00pm, Sherman Heights Community Center, 2258 Island Ave, San Diego, CA 92102-2921. 

House of Mexico Lawn Program is scheduled for March 7, 2010 this year. It is an annual event at Balboa Park with live mariachi music, ballet folkorico dance, and delicious Mexican food. House of Mexico is a community partner with the Media Arts Center and the 2010 17th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival. The festival begins March 11, 2010 and continues until March 21, 2010. For more information click on this link: San Diego Latino Film Festival

Ethnic Food Fair a grand event attended by thousands and is hosted by the Houseof Pacific Relations on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The International Cottages serve traditional food from around the world and provide cultural entertainment. For more information go to www.sdhpr.org.

Baja Wine Tasting Tour Fundraiser - On Saturday June 26, 2010 expect a wine and culinary adventure that will take you to new heights and look forward to seeing how Baja California wine is made and produced in the beautiful Valle de Guadalupe, north of Ensenada, BC Mexico.

Along the trip, you will enjoy breath taking views of the Pacific Ocean making your way through vibrant Mexican villages to the Valle de Guadalupe. Once a Russian settlement, Valle de Guadalupe is one of Mexico's oldest Wine Country offering some of Mexico 's best wines. We will visit three fabulous wineries: Dona Lupe, Adobe Guadalupe and L.A. Cetto.

Tour includes: Wine Tasting at three wineries, Lunch in the Valle de Guadalupe, Round Trip Transportation, Wine Expert at all times, Behind the scenes look at the Wineries.

In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights--a place where coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It'sa community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams, and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

The HOM is selling a limited number of tickets to this play as part of a fundraiser. We are selling tickets for $46 (normally sold for $51). Balboa Park's December Nights and the International Christmas Festival is an annual event that is held on the first weekend in December. Most of the museums at Balboa Park are open for free to the public while the International Cottages serve traditional food from their countries and present cultural entertainment. The International Cottages also participate in an International Spirits Garden for those 21+ years old. For more information go to www.sdhpr.org
